Stay in the Casco Antiguo if it is your first visit — the walled old town puts you within a 10-minute walk of the Aqueduct, the Cathedral and the Alcázar, and it holds most of the four- and five-star options, typically €120–€220 a night. The Judería, immediately south of the Cathedral, is quieter, mostly boutique conversions of old Jewish quarter houses, and runs a similar price. San Millán and San Lorenzo, just outside the walls to the north and east, drop you to roughly €70–€110 for three-star and guesthouse rooms while keeping the Aqueduct a 15-minute walk away.
For something rural, La Granja de San Ildefonso and Valsaín sit 11 km east under the Sierra de Guadarrama and suit anyone pairing the palace gardens with hiking; expect €80–€140 in casas rurales. Pedraza, Sepúlveda, Turégano, Cuéllar, Coca and Ayllón are the walled villages 40–100 km out — cheaper (€60–€100) but you will need a car. Nueva Segovia, San José, La Albuera and San Marcos are residential and cheapest of all (€55–€85), fine if you have a car and just want a bed.

Getting around Segovia and whether you need a car
You do not need a car for Segovia city itself: the Casco Antiguo, Judería, San Millán and San Lorenzo are all walkable, and it is 1.2 km from the Aqueduct to the Alcázar on foot. Segovia-Guiomar high-speed station is 5 km south in Nueva Segovia, linked to Madrid-Chamartín in 27 minutes by Avant (around €13 one way); Line 11 bus meets trains and runs to the Aqueduct in 15 minutes. Local Urbanos buses cover San Cristóbal de Segovia, Palazuelos de Eresma and La Albuera for €1.10.
You do need a car — or to plan around La Sepulvedana buses — for La Granja (11 km), Riofrío (7 km), Pedraza (37 km), Sepúlveda (58 km), Turégano (34 km), Cuéllar (60 km), Coca (52 km) and Ayllón (86 km). Bus frequencies to the smaller villages drop to one or two a day and nothing on Sundays. The AP-61 tolls were removed in 2018, so the Madrid drive is now free on the motorway and takes about 75 minutes to the Casco Antiguo.
